INFORMATION BACKGROUND

I redesigned Tavo’s IT consulting website. They provide custom IT solutions and services. My approach fused their mission with an enhanced digital experience. The revamped website showcases Tavo’s dedication to meeting client demands through personalized IT offerings. It was a great experience working with Tavo’s team.

In my role of redesigning Tavo’s website, I found significant usability issues due to obsolescence, cluttered interface, outdated design elements, and excessive text. The website needed an appealing visual layout and could have been more aesthetically pleasing. The issues required an urgent and comprehensive redesign to improve the user experience.

In the process of redesigning Tavo’s website, the opportunity lies in creating an intuitive, user-friendly digital platform that aligns with the company’s mission of offering custom IT solutions. By addressing the existing usability issues, there’s an opportunity to transform the website into a visually appealing, organized, and navigable hub. Enhancing the user experience through a streamlined, aesthetically pleasing design will not only improve user engagement but also reinforce Tavo’s commitment to delivering innovative, user-centric IT solutions. This opportunity offers a chance to position Tavo as a forward-thinking, customer-oriented IT consulting company through an enhanced digital presence.

  1. Streamline the website’s interface to enhance user navigation and reduce confusion.
  2. Implement a visually appealing and modern design to attract users and create a more engaging digital experience.
  3. Reorganize and condense the information to make it more concise and easily accessible for visitors.
  4. Highlight Custom IT Solutions to better resonate with the target audience.
  5. Foster increased user interaction by incorporating intuitive features and an improved user interface to keep visitors engaged.
  6. Reflect Brand Mission: Align the website’s design with Tavo’s mission of providing custom IT solutions, emphasizing innovation and user-centric design.

The Process

Due to the large scale of the project, we had to be very meticulous in planning a strategy to break it down into smaller and more manageable components. We started by assessing the website’s shortcomings and identified the areas that needed improvement. We prioritized the critical, yet manageable tasks first, followed by more comprehensive overhauls. We also integrated continual feedback loops and assessments to validate the effectiveness of the changes, making sure that we could improve the user experience.

What the users had to say

  1. During the website analysis, users reported facing several navigation challenges.
  2. They found it challenging to locate information or services.
  3. Technical issues, such as broken links, were identified.
  4. Unorganized content hindered the user experience.
  5. Dated user interface, which could discourage user engagement.
  6. Comments were made indicating a lack of trust in the business.

It is crucial to address these issues during the redesign process to ensure a functional, organized, and user-friendly website that instills trust and provides an excellent user experience.

The journey of creating a new account

Andres, the pretty face we put to our user, is looking for a reliable company to assist him with custom software for his startup. Let’s follow his journey as he navigates Tavo’s website to find the ideal service. He starts by identifying his specific needs and creates an account to engage in a personalized discussion with an expert. This journey culminates in a tailored and customized experience that meets all of Andres’ requirements.

Journey map

Initial sketches

We first identified our persona, Andres, and imagined him going through a journey in search of a solution to his problem. Now, we are working on sketching the website’s restructure, to ensure that Andres can easily find what he is looking for. By doing so, we aim to ensure that Tavo continues to provide the best service for many years to come.

LOW FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

To create a compelling and user-friendly app, we started by defining our audience personas and mapping out user journeys. This helped us gain a better understanding of our target audience and their needs. Once we had a clear picture of our users, we moved on to the wireframing stage. We explored multiple user flows to identify the most efficient and intuitive way for users to navigate through the website. This iterative process allowed us to iterate and refine our design until we achieved the optimal user experience.

USER TESTING

The usability testing involved five participants—three former and two new users. Overall, the feedback was positive, with everyone expressing enthusiasm for the new website design. Key suggestions included:

  • Two participants recommended clearer messaging on the homepage about Tavo’s services and technologies.
  • Three suggested adding a chat feature for quick inquiries and appointment scheduling.
  • Two participants advised incorporating interactive elements to showcase Tavo’s capabilities in handling large projects.
  • One participant recommended a different color scheme, suggesting a change from the existing blue.

This feedback will guide refinements in the wireframes, focusing on improved messaging, a chat feature addition, interactive elements, and potential color scheme adjustments to better align with user preferences and expectations.

FINAL OUTCOME

The culmination of Tavo’s case study showcases a meticulous and strategic approach to revamping its website. Understanding the pressing need for change, the redesign process was broken into manageable components to prioritize crucial yet less resource-intensive improvements.

Focusing on Tavo’s B2B clientele in IT services and software development, the redesign was crafted with user feedback in mind. Usability testing involving both former and new users revealed a positive reception to the proposed changes. Feedback highlighted the necessity for clearer messaging on the homepage, a chat feature for immediate assistance, interactive elements to showcase capabilities, and potential color scheme adjustments.

Implementing these insights led to a website redesign that adeptly addresses user preferences and needs. The emphasis on transparency, immediate support, interactive showcases of Tavo’s strengths, and potential color adjustments enhances user engagement and satisfaction.

The case study’s success lies in its user-centric approach, ensuring the website aligns with the expectations of its B2B audience. The redesign not only addresses the website’s shortcomings but also enhances user experience, paving the way for increased engagement and improved client acquisition through an optimized digital presence.
